Sportsmanship has always been our highest priority in every league we participate in. It is a value that promotes learning, unity, and the strengthening of morale among players and communities.

During the Sugbo Cup Quarter Finals game on August 8, 2025, held at the Guadalupe Sports Complex, an unexpected incident occurred involving the Mambaling Basketball Team and the Poblacion Pardo Basketball Team, which led to physical and verbal altercations.

On behalf of the Sangguniang Kabataan of Barangay Mambaling Council, headed by Hon. Audrae C. Teves, together with the Sugbo Cup players and coaching staff, we sincerely regret what transpired during the game. Such behavior is unacceptable and does not reflect the values we uphold as youth leaders and athletes.

We take full responsibility for the incident. Immediately after, a deliberation meeting was conducted with the Sangguniang Kabataan Federation, spearheaded by Hon. Rhea Mae Jakosalem, and the Sugbo Cup Working Committee, together with representatives of both involved partiesβ€”Hon. Psyche Faye Cabangc (SK Chairman of Barangay Poblacion Pardo) and Hon. Audrae C. Teves (SK Chairman of Barangay Mambaling).

We acknowledge the committee’s decision and accept the corresponding sanctions. This serves as a serious lesson for all of us, reminding us of the importance of discipline, respect, and accountability in every sporting event.

We extend our deepest apologies to all those affectedβ€”especially the individuals directly involved, the spectators, and the wider community. We recognize the harm, disappointment, and inconvenience caused by this incident.

Moving forward, we are committed to learning from this experience and implementing stricter measures to ensure that similar incidents will not happen again. Our goal is to rebuild trust and promote a culture of peace, respect, and true sportsmanship in all future events.

We sincerely commit to meaningful change and continuous improvement for the betterment of our community.

For we all believe that:
For the Youth,
By the Youth, and
With the Youth.
